home

Two weekends ago, Tristan and I enjoyed the luxury of flying home for four days. I Found out Monday I had the next Monday and Tuesday off work, by Wednesday two tickets were booked. Our pilot flew us along the coast for about 10 minuets before landing in Long Beach.
hello ocean.
Our plane landed around 6:00 and we were picked up by Shawn and his sexy mustang. Thank you Shawn! Friday night we hung with the Perdue's for a bit and met my family at golden spoon for ice cream. Saturday morning was Mormon Helping Hands in Carlsbad. There were a few locations you could pick to volunteer at. My family went to a nearby park, and the Perdue's went to Tamarack Beach. Tristan helped out at the beach while I ditched out on helping and ran 8 miles along the coast. It is crazy how many people are exercising along the 101 on a Saturday morning. So motivating, so relaxing. The rest is a blur. But the everyday basics were: morning run with Kelsey and Jeremyx3, beachx4, Mexican foodx3, BBQx2, shoppingx3, hang with familyx4. Tris is not much of an all day sun bather, like me, but as long as we brought an umbrella along he was as happy as a peach sitting in the shade reading his book.
ponto beach setup.
 love.
 pretty coastal flowers growing everywhere.
 beautiful sea plant flowers.
sunday beach walk.

handmade sand chair.
Monday, Tristan decided he wanted a surfboard of his own to use while he is living in Carlsbad this summer. I had no objections. So, we went to Surf Ride and he picked out just what he wanted.
 relaxing with his board.
taking his board out for its first ride.
 mom and sister time.
 kenzie and me.
 me, mom, kels.
It was a perfect trip home. Thank you sweetheart.

waiting

Its been a beautiful day so far in Orem. Partly cloudy, sun is shinning, low 70's. I've been cleaning house all morning and about 10 minutes ago I decided, "Now is a good time to go for my run." The second I finished mapping out todays' 10 mile run (using the best invention ever, runningmap.com) a huge clap of thunder sounded. And then another, and another. Still, I've run during summer thunder storms before, it will be ok. Then the wind and the big gushing rain drops came. Humm... guess I'll just wait it out. Looks like it should clear up.

today

Today has been a great day. We slept in till 9:00. Tristan replaced a couple parts on his car. We had a scare a couple days ago unsure if his car was on its deathbed. But it has been revived. I went for a 9 mile run. I did a big loop running past the BYU duck pond, where i stopped to smile at the new fuzzy ducklings swimming around the pond. After lunch we went to the big park next to our house, with our beach towels and books, where we read and basked in the sun.
After the park Megan picked me up to go explore the Beehive Bazaar.
It was a treat to see Debbie with Tom Design there. She moved to Idaho last year and is back in Utah for the summer. With my budget of $20 I got an adorable kitchen towel from Happy Little Artist and two sets of earrings from Tom Design.
Next, Tristan and I made french toast and hash browns for dinner. Amazingly delicious.
I love days like this.

no. thumb.

Last Thursday we partied with the Nothum's one last time before they packed house and moved back home to St. Louis. so. much fun.
Tristan and I fell in love those two immediately. I clearly remember the day, almost a year ago, we first met them in church and realized they had just moved into our complex. We hung out with them EVERY night for about a month and then backed down to a few nights a week and then once school started up last fall it was pretty much every weekend, without fail.
We have hung in the sun...
went to CA for the 4th of July...
snowshoed...
shopped...
dinner, millions of times...
cheered at sporting events...
played some sports...
rocked it in the car...
and just chilled on the couch...
We have had the best year hanging with Spencer and Brittany. We are so sad to see them go, so happy they get to move home and so jealous of all the other people who get to hang out with them.
We hit up cafe rio for dinner and finished up with dessert at Sammy's where we made the famous wall. Holler!
Nothums + Perdues = 4eva. Duh.
They are expecting little Henry in June and are so exciting for their upcoming parenthood adventures. Spenc and Brit, thank you for ALL the laughs, good times, and amazing memories. We love you guys! We are brainstorming a reunion in San Diego once Tris and I move back. So lets leave it as, Nothum's, we'll see you soon :)
