disneyland

Traditionally, the Tucker family goes to Disneyland together once a year. We did Disney yesterday and had a blast. The place was decked out for Christmas.
Brady and Tristan
Mom and the girls.
Me: "Ok Dad, smile..." Mom: "People are going to think there is something mentally wrong with you."
Sisters
Small World
Wiggly Worm got to go on all the rides, except Indiana Jones. He loved Pirates best.
It was a perfect day spent with family...

...at the happiest place on earth.

christmas 2011

Our Christmas was perfect. Spent with family, at home, in a beautiful place. Best part, this is our last Christmas having to travel home.
Christmas eve dinner at the Tucker's.
Mom and Dad
 Opening PJ's on Christmas Eve
  Pink Leopard and Ralphie
 Tucker Siblings
 Tucker girls
Tristan in his adorable PJ's
Then we put on a play. First year using Mom's nativity puppets instead of dressing up and acting. It was a blast.
Tristan was the Donkey and Joseph and I was a Shepherd and Mary with baby Jesus. Suited us perfectly.
The other hand puppet actors.
In action.
After the Tucker's we went to the Perdue's to open sibling presents and pass around the Christmas stocking.
Christmas morning at the Perdue's.
We were able to "sleep in" and open presents at 7:30. We opened our present one at a time, savoring the morning.
Mike in his new Angry Birds shirt.
Jeremy and Shawn. Love them.
We had the most delicious food for breakfast. Mike-made orange rolls. Breakfast casserole.
After a nice morning at the Perdue's we went to the Tucker's to open presents there and eat breakfast for lunch. We had my favorite, aebleskiver's. A Christmas morning specialty.

The rest of the day was spend with family, napping, eating, and playing with our new toys.
Merry Christmas from the Perdue's!

christmas this and that

Christmas lights at the San Diego temple. With the Tucker family piled in the car.
How beautifully perfect.
Tris and me.
Christmas cookies. Mittens, rocking horses, Christmas trees, stars, angels, snowflakes, ornaments, and light bulbs. On Christmas Eve we rolled out, cut out, and decorated all 80 of them.
Shannon decorating.
Finished products. There were many casualties and quality controls throughout the process.
My favorite part of Christmas is celebrating the season with family.

sisters birthday

Little Makenzie Tucker turned 15 on December 22nd.
We celebrated her by going to dinner with the entire family, Uncle Mike and cousins included.
She reminded us, only 1 more year until she can start dating. Oh my word, my little sister is growing up. We love you Makenzie! Happy Birthday!

mo tab date

After entering four different addresses I was lucky to have just one drawn out of the lottery to attend the Mormon Tabernacle Christmas Concert. We brought the Jackson's and made it a date night. Before the concert we met for dinner at Malawi's, one of my very favorite eats in Provo. Then drove to Salt Lake to battle the crowds of old people swarming the conference center. The concert was great. Sultry singers, lots of Christmas music, and dancing.
The stage was decorated beautifully.
 Ryan and Becca
 Me and hubs
After the concert we crashed 7-11 for some hot chocolate.
It was a perfect date night with our favorite people.

baby perdue

ITS A BOY!!
While Dr. Holmes was looking at the ultrasound he said he was 100% positive it was a boy and typed out "peepe" with an arrow pointing to the boy parts. Why thank you for pointing it out!
I really did know it was going to be a boy and was not surprised a bit at the appointment.
I polled my office the majority also said boy.
I made my first baby purchase... newborn BYU socks. So exciting!

Little man may have to come home from the hospital in these.
As of now we cannot agree on a single name so no names yet. But, we are so excited and getting more excited by the day. I'm 19 weeks along. One more week and we are already half way done!

oh. by the way...

Lets talk about the birds and the bee's. After about 3 days past "p" time I decided to go out and buy a First Response...without telling anyone. One morning, after Tristan left for school, I decided to test for the big P. I had never actually seen once of these devices first hand and had no idea how to work it. While holding in my pee, dancing around the bathroom cause I have to go so bad, I'm trying to read the instructions. Finally, when I think I get the main idea I sit, posed and ready, and I am unable to go. Stage fright. I can pee in a cup for the doctor in half a second but peeing on a stick is, apparently to my bladder, a whole different story. After a quick pep talk and deep breaths I had success. A couple minutes later I saw them...2 pink lines. I smiled and thought, "Oh man". I hid the pee ridden stick, got ready for work, and went about my day as if nothing happened. That evening, after Tristan and I ate dinner I decided to pull out the stick. I handed it to him, without saying a word. He looked and laughed, being a man of few words said, "That's exciting! What do you think about it?" I was unsure at the time. Shocked, happy, scared, unsure, excited. It was a very weird mix of feelings. He said, "I can't believe you didn't tell me all day." I wanted to tell him in person so I decided to wait.
The next day I set an appointment with my doctor, who is our primary care doctor but also does the baby thing. I went to Barnes and Noble to buy "the bible", What to Expect When You're Expecting. The appointment was set for when I was expected to be about 10 weeks along.
Over the next month little was said about it. I read the bible. I was having no symptoms of pregnancy. I was starting to wonder if there was anything in my uterus at all. As the appointment time drew nearer Tristan and I grew more anxious and excited.

October 14th: After I got off work on Friday Tristan and I headed over to Dr. Holmes office. I peed in a cup, they drew my blood and we waited for the doctor. After a minute of small talk he turned on the ultrasound machine and we saw it, the baby, for the first time. Crazy! It was kicking its legs and moving its body up and down, side to side. Thus the nickname was born, wiggly worm. We lovingly refer to the thing making me use the restroom 3 times a night as Wiggly Worm. Dr. Holmes measured Wiggly Worm and decided my estimated due date is May 14th, 2012, just weeks after Tristan graduates.

October 18th: Tucker family was informed.
October 19th: Perdue family was informed.

November 15th: We had our second doctor appointment today. It was a fairly quick check up. I peed in a cup, which I expect I will become an expert at. When Dr. Holmes came in the room he announced I was still pregnant, phew. He reviewed my labs from last visits blood draw and said all my levels were excellent. We also found out I am A- blood type and also Rh negative so I'll have to get a RhoGAM shot at 28 weeks and again after delivery so my body doesn't reject and fight growing baby. Thank goodness for modern medicine! He used the Doppler to hear the baby's heart beat. Something alive is living inside me? Weird. He also asked me how I was doing and I had no symptoms to report besides some aches and pains which he says are all normal. I am going to announce now that I have had NO nausea at ALL. Only the occasional re-occurring constant constipation and bloating. My energy has returned and I feel normal again. The first trimester had me on the couch the second I walked in the door from work. I asked Dr. Holmes about the possibility of finding out the sex before we go home for Christmas (I want to shop and craft!!) and he said that would be fine. We set up our next appointment, 4 weeks from now, for December 13th when we will find out if Wiggly Worm is a he or she.

November 28th: Today was my first day back to work from a week off for Thanksgiving. I am also 16 weeks today. My tummy sure did grow over the last week cause my khaki pants barely buckled today. This is not good. I still have not told everyone at work. I think it's going to have to happen sooner than later. I refer to the feeling I have as "being in the closet" and I'm beginning to feel more and more ready to "come out of the closet." There are two other girls at the office that are also pregnant. One about a month ahead of me and the other about a month behind me. The gas has been relentless today. I focused on fiber today, to help things along, which might be the culprit. I swear I can feel baby kick about once a day. Its a subtle feeling that definitely does not feel like gas. It feels like a muscle twitch. I like to think it's baby and not a uterine spasm. I noticed today my belly button is starting to poke out a bit. I have an outtie belly button that sinks in so its only a matter or time before that baby is poking through my shirts. I've decided I'm going to embrace it. I'm still able to run. Last week, while at home I ran 5 miles 5 days of the week and it feels great. I noticed I feel better (less achy) on the days I do run.

November 30th: I had a bad dream about baby last night. One where I woke up sad and worried. I haven't talked much about my pregnancy. Obviously, since I'm 4 months along and only a handful of people know. When asked why I don't want to talk about it a lot or tell everyone my response is, "I don't want to be one of those annoying people who are always rubbing their belly talking about their baby every chance they get to open their mouth." And I know a few of those people. I know you love your unborn child but forgive me, I can't stand it. After my dream last night I also realized another reason I've kept quiet is because the more you think, talk about, and obsess over something the more emotionally involved you become and I have been trying to avoid that if something were to, unfortunately, go wrong. After this morning, it's too late. I've realized I already love baby and I don't want anything bad to happen to Wiggly Worm. It is crazy to me. So I am exercising, taking care of myself and eating the best I can to have the healthiest baby possible.

December 6th: My friend at work informed another girl in the office was starting to ask if I was pregnant or just gaining weight. Ohh geez.

December 8th: Came out of the closet at work by posting on the office Team Space website.

mm2 out

Friday was Dr. McLane's last day of work for a while. MM2 is what she is referred to on paper. She is having surgery on Wednesday and is going home to Pittsburgh for a while to get all better. Friday was a bitter sweet day as I am so sad to say "see ya later" for six weeks but this surgery has been much needed for the past few months. MM2 is not a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints but has lived in Provo for many many years and knows a thing or two about the church so she asked for a blessing before she left. The date and time were set and everyone came to the clinic Friday after all the patients had left. She was given a blessing right there in a patient room and it was perfectly beautiful. Everyone was emotional. After the blessing she said, "I don't know how to explain it but I suddenly feel so calm. I now know everything is going to be OK." She kept repeating that. Once everyone had left MM2 and I were talking and I was able to bear testimony of the Holy Ghost. I added that another name for the Holy Ghost is "the Comforter" and that he is there to help comfort and guide us. She said no one has ever explained that to her and how it all makes sense and, "that's what it must have been." I gave her a soft cozy blanket. I told her blankets make me feel all better and I wanted her to take it with her on her trip. She asked if she could take it to the hospital with her. Of course! That's exactly what I wanted, it made me so happy.
I have not found many opportunities to share the gospel in Utah and doing so yesterday made me feel so good. It is a day I will never forget.
And I sure will miss Melissa.

birthday girl

Thursday, December 8th, I celebrated my 25th birthday. It was a great day but I have realized birthdays tend to be less exciting the older you get. I worked all day and then we attended my work Christmas party. I got a pretty flower on my desk and a card signed by everyone in the office.
At the party we were served J-Dawgs for dinner. Delicious but definitely not what I had in mind for my birthday dinner. They had me stand while everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to me. Then it was on to the white elephant gift exchange.
Dr. Rich's wife (he's one of the doctors I work for) picked up a gift bag stuffed with tissue paper. On the bag there was a note saying, "Fragile! Do not shake or swing back and forth!" Out of the bag she pulls fish tank filled with 2 little crabs crawling around. Someone yelled, "What did ya guys get?" Dr. Rich yells back, "We got crabs!" HAHA. Simply hilarious. The crabs were stolen back and forth until my friend Shannon ended up with the crabby pair.
Fair warning...next time you invite me to a white elephant gift party...I'm bringing crabs.
This time last year I was interviewing for my position, on December 7th to be exact, and now I am only a month shy of having worked at the hospital for a year. It has been the best year of my life. I have absolutely loved working and have fallen in love with everyone in the office. I actually look forward to work every morning so I can hang out with my friends all day.
Friday we went to dinner and dessert to celebrate with real birthday food and family. Tristan took me to my favorite Mexican sit down, Joe Veras, where we met Brady, Kelsey and Jeremy. After dinner we hit up The Pizza Factory for dessert.
 Happy Birthday to me! BOOYA!
