carlsbad sunshine

I actually think I've been a bit depressed lately. You could probably tell from my last two posts, it seems things just are not going my way. ALL our friends are moving. And when i say all, i mean ALL. Awesome. Next, new ward. I'm not a huge fan of putting myself out there to make new friends in church. Geez. Third, Utah spring is the most depressing, annoying, frustrating thing. Its May (basically), time for sun. Its already in the 70's in CA and the 80's in AZ and it snowed here two days ago!! I just want it to be warm so I can go running before work without having to wear my winter leggings. Please? Last thing I'll complain about, work. Yesterday I spoke to the office manager about getting a week off in August so I can go home. I need to book a flight sooner than later. She replys, "Finding coverage will be hard, you just might not be able to go." You better believe I gave her one of my looks. Like, are you kidding me lady?! I'm asking 4 months in advance and I just want to go home so I can see my husband for our anniversary. Sheesh!
This morning, Tristan called me at work to inform me he had just booked us a flight home for Friday!! Like in 2 days, Friday. YESS! I even got a little teary eyed because this could not have come at a better time. Sometimes I cant believe how thoughtful Tris is. (it makes me wonder if i'm thoughtful. hummm) I am seriously so thankful for that big ray of sunshine that came into my life today. My plans for the weekend: Friday: Work till 3. Catch a plane with Tris at 6:00pm. Land in Long Beach at 7:00pm. Alejandros for dinner. Saturday: Beach. Wear my cute new Roxy boardshorts I got while in Albuquerque (the only good thing about that trip). Dinner at El Torrito with Tris. Sunday: Church. Walk on the beach. BBQ with the fam. Monday & Tuesday: Run along beach. Beach. Roxy boardshorts. Sunburn. Shopping. Hang with Kristi. 8:00pm fly back to Provo.
What a turn of events. I feel good inside. Thank for Tristan for making me so happy.

church update

If you haven't heard, there is a TON of stuff going on in the Provo/Orem area with stake and ward changes. On Sunday they announced that 5 wards in our student married stake are being "dissolved". And guess what, ours is one of them. Its only been a year since the ward boundaries changed and we got switched over to our current ward. It is a rather depression situation, really. We are in a ward for a year, I finally feel like I'm getting to know everyone, making friends and the ward boundaries change. Then we switch to this new ward and figure out the switch was the best thing that could have happened to us. We are in this new ward for a year and now the ward is gone. We have been instructed to go to LDS.org, enter our address and attend our appropriate ward so we can "be a blessing to our assigned family wards". I absolutely love our ward. I actually, surprisingly, loved going to RS activities. Just like last time, I know everything will work out. Even though I am partial to student married wards rather than a "normal" ward, i will keep and open mind. So starting next week Tristan and I will be new members of the Cherry Hill 1st ward. Thank for everything BYU 174th ward, its been real.

a memory

Tonight was a good night. As I was pulling into our complex from a work dinner I saw all my favorite neighbors, outside, hanging out in the parking lot talking. It's what we do and I love it. It seems that we, the Perdues, the Nothums, and the Sparks, tend to meet up in the parking lot. It happens more than you think it would. We've had good conversations and laughs while mingling in the Lee Halladay's parking lot. I have a lot of good memories of us neighbors just chatting. We all have nothing to do but we all rather do nothing together. During the summer these meetings would happen quite frequently with the weather being so nice outside. These meetings would usually end with a BBQ or a dessert run. Today we congregated outside because our power went out. We chatted outside until we were all chilled and decided to move our party to Barnes and Noble were we continued our chat in the cafe and browsed the books. It makes me sad to think these parking lot rendezvous's will soon come to an end. The Nothums are moving back to St. Louis on Saturday and the Sparks are moving to Louisiana in July. Some of the best memories I have are with these neighbors in our complex having fun just being together.
My memory: small, rather insignificant, but meaningful to me.

for the record...

Today is day 2 of 4 days in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I am attending the Rocky Mountain Athletic Trainers Associations annual symposium. Jess (friend from my semester in school who i now work with at the clinic; currently 7 months pregnant), Kelli (friend from school; worked with her at the MTC; currently addicted to diet coke), and I left Orem at 10:00pm and arrived in NM at 8:00am the next morning, just in time for the lectures to start. Because we could not check into our hotel until 3:00pm, we changed in the car, washed our faces and brushed our teeth in the hotel lobby bathroom.
For the record, I plan on never driving over night again, ever.
For the record, so far I dislike Albuquerque. Too much desert, old, creepy, windy, and no Nordies.
For the record, a three star hotel in Albuquerque means ghetto hotel.
For the record, "Frontage Road" means on ramp.
For the record, a girl hooked on diet coke pees more than a pregnant girl.
For the record, I'm having fun but can't wait to go home.
