First Day of School

Today was the first day of the 2010 fall semester for BYU. It was also Tristan's first day as an information systems masters student. So proud.

I couldn't resist a picture as he was walking out the front door with briefcase and lunch in hand. What a cutie.

He said his first day of classes went well and had fun seeing all his buddies again. He'll be taking 15 credits and TA'ing for a ISYS core class, so he'll be pretty busy.

My first day of fall semester? Went to work and called 911 because an Elder was having chest pain and difficulty breathing. It was an exciting day for both of us.

Move in Day

Wednesday was "move in day" for the dorms and guess who moved in?? Kelsey!! Kelsey and my Mom drove up Wednesday to begin the move in process. Kelsey will be living in Helaman Halls and she's quite excited. With my Mom's help, her dorm was transformed from white walls to a cute, colorful "space" in just a few days. 

Kelsey here means half the Tucker family is living in Carlsbad and the other half here in Provo. Im sure my Mom will be visiting more often :) We also have three cousins going to BYU so we had a start of school reunion Friday night with everyone. Our traditional pre-football game lunch with Grandpa and Grandpa Jensen will now include 7 grandchildren, 9 total. Its going to be a party!

As always, it was a blast having my Mom stay for a few days. Tristan and I enjoy having siblings in the area to keep us company.

Dog Beach

Saturday, Kelsey and I ran 15 miles up the coast. Along the way we passed dog beach and both decided we needed to take Jake there. Jake loved it. Dogs everywhere. Agenda included: wading in the water, meeting new doggy friends, laying on the beach, and jumping into the waves. Jake is the most perfect dog and so adorable. It's incredible how much i care about this black dog.

We all had a blast, human and K-9 alike, and decided we need to made this a frequent destination. Love you puppy. 

Rainbow's and Disney

After our Catalina adventure we finished up our 10 day trip home with some very important adventures. Friday morning we were off to Disneyland. Along the hour drive from Carlsbad to Anaheim we stopped at the Rainbow Sandal Outlet to pick up a new pair of sandals. Tristan and I both have had our current pair of Rainbows for over 3 years and decided it was time to upgrade. Everyone left the store with a new pair of sandals.

The New versus The Old

Then, The Happiest Place on Earth. It was a sweet day. Extremely short lines and good weather. We were able to hit up all the rides we wanted and more. We watched the parade, ate at our usual location for dinner, Pizza Port, and then watched the fireworks. Pretty sure Winnie the Pooh was my favorite ride of the day.

 We love Rainbow sandals and we love Disneyland.

Catalina Island

Monday morning we packed up and drove to Long Beach were we boarded our boat...wait for it...Platform 9 3/4. Yes! I was incredibly excited.

I had just watched the first Harry Potter the night before which made it even more exciting. We loaded our beautiful boat and set sail for the majestic Catalina Island. We had amazing wind so we were able to sail the entire way there and back.

 

Monday we arrived at our secluded camp site, Rippers Cove, unpacked the boat and set up camp. About a year ago Tristan and I bought a 6-man tent, sleeping bags, and camping chairs that we have yet to use. This was their maiden voyage and we put them to good use.

Last trip we had issues about where to do our "business". This year, that problem was completely solved with our own Perdue-made camo port-a-potty. A toilet seat to sit on, toilet paper, and privacy...what more could you ask for?

After set up we ate a dutch oven dinner and fell asleep listening to the waves crash on the shore.

Tuesday we soaked in the sun. The boys went scuba diving and in the afternoon we sailed to Avalon. Avalon was an adorable little city. We walked the shops and admired the scenery.

Wednesday morning we were off sailing to Two Harbors, another quaint city on the island. There we packed a lunch and rented kayaks. We kayaked from the marina to a "Pirates of the Caribbean" cave where you go in one way and come out the other side. That was a cool experience.

Then we  kayaked to a nearby beach, ate lunch, and snorkeled.

Wednesday night, like Monday and Tuesday, we ate a dutch oven dinner and fell asleep listening to the waves crash on the shore.

Thursday we packed up camp, loaded Platform 9 3/4 and made our way back to Long Beach with the wind in our sails.

 

Thank you Captain Perdue and Kelly! We had a wonderful trip. 

Eric Sears Memorial Run

A good friend of mine, Eric Sears, passed away right after he graduated high school in 2004. We ran cross country together throughout high school and now every year in August the Carlsbad High School cross country team hosts a memorial 5k run in his name. I ran the 1st annual run and have always been out of town for all the others. This year, the 6th annual, I was in Carlsbad and so excited to run the 5k for Eric and his family. Friday after work we drove home and Saturday morning we were off running. I got Kelsey, Jeremy, and Shawn to run it with me and we all had a blast.

Third Anniversary

Today is our third wedding anniversary. I know, right!? So crazy and exciting. We are one of a few in our ward married over one year, let alone three. So lets be for real, we got this marriage thing down. Tristan and I were talking and agreed that marriage gets better and easier as time passes. 

Carrabba's was our choice for dinner. An Italian restaurant in Orem that everyone raves about it. We had never been there and decided that indeed, it is delicious.

Next. Cold Stone. In "like it" cups, unfortunately, because we gotta maintain our figures. 

Our anniversary presents were planned out and matching, of course. We each got new running shoes. Asics for Tristan and Saucony's for me.

Tristan recently joined Gold's Gym and new running shoes were needed. And these are the shoes I'll be running my marathon in (ahhhhh!) and I worship them. Tristan also picked up the new 2010 BYU Football shirt. "We Are BYU Football." We purchased our All-Sport passes last week and we are soooo ready for football season to start! Go Cougs! 

I am so grateful for a wonderful marriage, a perfect husband and a happy life. Happy anniversary to us!!

Mini Golf

Friday was date night with the Jackson's. We went to Iggy's for dinner, which was delicious. Then we hit up Trafalga for some mini golf, arcade games and ice cream. The competitiveness was almost too much to handle.

Happy Birthday Dad

Today is my Dad's 50th birthday. Dad, I love you tons and tons and am so grateful to have you in my life. Thanks for being the best dad, teacher, supporter, and friend.

Lake Powell

Friday we returned from Lake Powell, always my favorite vacation. We were in the twilight zone. The clock in the houseboat kitchen stopped at 10:30. So whenever anyone asked, it was 10:30. We woke up at 10:30, we ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner at 10:30 and we went to bed at 10:30. It was awesome not being on a schedule. 

Friday, we drove from Orem to Page, AZ and arrive in the afternoon. At the same time my family was driving up from Carlsbad to meet us in Page. We loaded our houseboat, All My Amigos (absolutely love the name chosen by my Dad), and slept on the boat in Antelope Marina Friday night.  

Saturday morning we did some major grocery shopping and began our quest for the perfect spot. We sent the boat and Sea Doo's ahead to scope all possibilities. The perfect spot was found in West Canyon. 

Sunday, we went to see Rainbow Bridge. Always so amazing. And then we hit up Dangling Rope Marina for some ice cream and to harass the fish. 

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are all blurred together with wakeboarding, sea doo'ing, kneeboarding, tubing, cliff jumping, floating, swimming, dragging, shaving parties, and food.
