golden birthday

Friday, September 28th was Tristan's 28th birthday. So, I decided to throw him a golden themed birthday party. A surprise party. Well, not an actual surprise party because he was the first one to show up to his party an hour and a half earlier than expected but he was surprised nonetheless. Decorations were set up and food was out when he walked through the front door as I stood alone yelling, "Surprise!" I call it a success though. Planed, invited, and executed all party plans without Tristan knowing a thing. Then, when planned, his guests arrived. We celebrated Tristan by eating lots of food and cheering on our BYU Cougars for the win.

I knew Tristan couldn't care less about the decorations and display but it was all for my sake. Thanks to Kristi, who makes Pinterest parties look amateur, I felt my first party went perfectly.

Callen,

Happy four month birthday!! You have made the most progression in the last month than you have in your entire short life. (Pretty sure I say that every month.) You amaze me.

In the last month:
You started sleeping through the night. It doesn't happen every night but most nights we can all get a  few undisturbed REM cycles in. This has been a huge life changer for me. I was beginning to think I would never get another full nights sleep.
No matter what time you go to bed you always wake up at the same time, 6:30am. This just means I have to go to bed as soon as you do around 8:30. Talk about party animals.
You started eating food! Real food is so much more fun than formula. I noticed you began recognizing food and would open your mouth as we were eating something so I decided it was time.  We began with Oatmeal cereal which isn't your absolute favorite but you eat it happily. Sometimes you make a yucky face at it but still open your mouth for another bite. Then we tried sweet potatoes, carrots, squash and bananas. You love them all. This makes me happy that you will be a good eater, just like your parents. We love food.
Your hair is growing longer and longer and boy does it look good. Its not awkward like other babies I've seen.
You are able to tolerate your tummy time longer as you become stronger and better at it.
On your four month birthday I heard you laugh and giggle for the first time. It was absolutely heart stopping. It makes it all worth it.

Summer may be over for some but ours is still going strong. The weather is hotter than ever which means beach, pool, and lounging in the shade.

Callen is becoming quite the talker. 

Especially when talking to himself in the mirror.
