WE ARE HOMEOWNERS!!
Life has never been so amazingly crazy for us. After years of dreaming and months of waiting it has finally arrived. We have now been in our new home for a week and it is slowly, very slowly, beginning to feel like home.
Last Monday, March 11th we signed all our closing documents, wired the funds on Tuesday, and by Thursday afternoon we recorded and picked up our keys. On Friday, with the help of my mom and Diane, I moved everything (except our beds) from my parents house to ours. Saturday morning, with the help of our closest friends and family we loaded our belongings from storage into the moving truck. It was a very quick move. We started at eight in the morning and two hours later every box was in its proper place in our new home. One hiccup, our couches. If you remember, they are big, and that is an understatement. To move in and out of our Orem apartment the window had to be taken out for the couches to pass. Here, they could not fit through the curve of our stairwell and had to be lifted up over the second story balcony though our sliding glass door. Talk about an inconvenience. It went like this. We pulled the moving truck right underneath the balcony. Two people stood on the ground, two people on the hood of the truck, and two people on the balcony. (Tristan was on the hood and I was on the balcony.) The people on the ground lifted and passed the couch to the people on the hood who then passed it up to us on the balcony. Crazy, right? I was holding onto my couch like I carried it in my womb for nine months. It was intense. But it was easy, went quick, and no damage was done. Phew!
Later that day Kristi came over to help me unpack my kitchen and set out my decorations. Huge help! By the end of the day we were exhausted Did I mention I got up at 5:00am that morning to run 14 miles before we moved? I am 100% committed to my marathon training.
Now, a week later we have organized, hung curtains, and have one clock hung on the wall. It has been an exhausting process. But very fun indeed.
