san diego zoo

Friday we went to the zoo! It was Callen's first time and, oh my goodness, he loved it. He would look at the animals I pointed at, wiggle his legs when he watched the animals, he loved being outside, and he loved all the people.  My mom bought me and her season passes so me, Callen, and my mom will going back a lot!

So busy looking at everything.
He loves touching plants and got to touch all the plants he wanted!
The coolest bird ever, obviously, because he wouldn't even stop staring it for a picture.
Half giraff half zebra looking animal. Don't see one of those every day.
This GIANT hippo kept circling around making a pass right up against the glass.

Grandma and Grandpa Jensen in the elephant encounter.
Callen's been asking to go back ever day since. I think another zoo trip in in order.

christmas day

Christmas day started at 6:00AM when Callen woke up (this is the time he wakes up every morning) and we headed straight for the Perdue's to see if Santa came...and he did!!
Callen knows the flash on my camera is about to come and closes his eyes before I can even take a picture. He's been conditioned, poor kid.
After opening presents we talked with Elder Grant Perdue, who just hit his year mark, serving in Canada. The last time Grant saw Callen was mothers day when Callen was only five days old. It would be an understatement to only say he's done some growing since then.
Everyone talking to Grant.
Callen got kisses from Grandma Perdue under the mistletoe.
After Callen's morning nap we came home to open presents with the Tuckers and have a big christmas breakfast with our traditional Danish aebleskivers. Delish!
After breakfast we opened stockings. Great Grandma Jensen made a stocking for Callen to match the rest of the families. I love it!
Callen was more spoiled than any of us. He was pretty good at opening his presents. He could tear the paper right off the box.
His big present from mom and dad was an awesome new carseat. He is already grown out of his infant carrier and loves being a big boy.
We had a lazy afternoon playing with our new toys, naping, and talking a walk on the beach.
It was the perfect first Christmas as a family.

christmas eve

Christmas eve morning the boys went golfing. I mean, what would an important day be without a round of golf? The girls hung around completing last minute preparations.

When the boys returned we went to In-N-Out for a fabulous Christmas eve lunch. We saw Auntie Shanny and Chelsea while we were there!
After lunch we headed over to the Perdue's. We hung out talking and making Christmas treats.
That evening we joined my family for a big Christmas Eve dinner. Callen even had his own place setting.
We did our Christmas eve traditions with the Tuckers of new pajamas and acting out the nativity scene.
Callen opened his first Christmas gift, modeled his jammies, and then went to bed.

Tristan and I then headed to the Perdue's to participate in their tradition of the stocking and opening sibling gifts.
It was so much fun having Callen here with us making the day so much more magical. I am so excited to carry on and start our own Christmas traditions with my own family. My happiness is indescribable.
Even though Callen is small I still played Santa and filled our stockings and set out Callen's gifts from Santa.
Merry Christmas from us!
