I built Callen a "fort" in the family room this morning. Nothing fancy, in fact I'm sure Tristan would be ashamed, I just threw an old comforter over some chairs. I was curious to see how Callen would react. He crawled right in, sat for a bit, but then it got boring pretty quick and he started destroying the fort. I'm sure we'll get better as building giant fortresses for Callen to crawl, play, and take naps in. I feel like the little boy fun is just beginning.

callen's first camping trip
Over the weekend we went camping with the Monahan's in the beautiful mountains of Cuyamaca Rancho State Park. How adorable are they?!

Chris is Mr. Outdoor's so he was our guide to us newbies and took us to an awesome camp site just an hour drive from home down the road from the historic town of Jullian. I felt like I was in Utah again. It was amazing.
The babes played in the car while we set up camp.
We were a little excited it and way over did our menu but hey, we ate like kings for the two meals we were there. We had "Chicago style" hot dogs for dinner.
Callen is overly obsessed with anything "hot". So he loved the grill, fire, and smoke.
This is him saying, "Hhhoooot."
Playing with bubbles.
Chris made the most perfect chocolate cake in the dutch oven. Pure talent.
Tris made our favorite peach cobbler. On top of dutch oven cake and cobbler we roasted mallows over the fire and had s'mores. Like I said, we went all out.
After the babies went to bed we sat around the fire talking. We set up the Pack N Play in our tent and Callen slept through the night.
Callen was in heaven. Playing and running around in the dirt right before bed and the second he woke up.
Sand toys were used to dig in the dirt.
Breakfast was bacon and pancakes. Yum.
We packed up camp and hiked to a natural pool and rock water slide.
We waded, splashed and played in the water.
Then went down the slide.
The boys cliff jumped into the lager lower pool.
Wiped out.
After playing in the water we went into Julian on our way home to grab lunch and explore. Julian was a thriving gold mine community in the 1800's and is now a cute little town comparative to Midway, Utah.
We stopped by the famous Julian Pie Company to pick up an apple pie to bring home.
We had the most perfect weather and even better company. Such a fun adventure not far from home. It was so relaxing just to get away for a night Tristan and I decided we need to stuff like this more often, mini-vacations. Yet another awesomely fun first for Callen.

sd padres
We rocked the Beach Club seats at Petco Park this week. It was a blast! Right behind the outfield there are grass floor stadium seats with a giant sand pit in front. Genius idea! Kids play in the sand while parents watch the game. We spent more time watching Callen to make sure he didn't bolt away or pick on the older kids than actually watching the game.
Callen kept jumping on this poor kids sand mound he was building. What a bully. Callen has no boundaries and no shame. He steals toys away from older kids and they just stand there and watch him run away with their toy. "Sharing" it going to be a tough concept.
Callen was in heaven digging in the sand, running around, and stealing toys. Another, awesome, fun, first for Callen. We love our summer night Padre games.
