Right up the street from us there is a very old ranch once occupied in the 1800's. My good friend Meredith took us and we let the boys run wild. It was the perfect place to let Callen do what he wanted without too much intervention needed. There are walking trails leading throughout the ranch for the boys to play in the dirt and chase the Peacocks. Callen and Oliver, the dynamic duo. We call them the Bash Brothers. I felt like I was in whole other world for the afternoon.

demolition time
Grandma Perdue got Callen giant cardboard blocks for his birthday. Tristan had the same kind growing up and claimed to play with them till he was eight years old. They are extremely sturdy blocks meant to be built up and absolutely destroyed. Callen has to be held back so we can stack more than two blocks a time before he can knock them over. We try to channel all his destructive energy toward the blocks to give the rest of the house a break.

15 months
Callen had his 15 month Dr. Appointment today. He weighed in at 29 pounds 13 ounces (100% for age) and was 2 feet 9 inches long (97% for age). In other words he is a big boy. People comments about Callen's size are usually, "Wow, he's a big boy!", "He's a tank!", He's solid!". My response, "Yeaaaaaa, not sure what I fed him." He had three vaccines, which he does not like! He's mad as ever when the needles are in his legs but as soon as the nurse is done he's over it and back to normal. I think it stresses me out more than him. The nurses asked, "Is he always this happy?" Yes, I have a happy baby, thankfully. He passed all Dr. Tolba's questions. He is always impressed with Callen.
Callen's vocabulary is growing by the day. He is starting to repeat words I say. As we are reading a book, driving down the street, or in a store he is pointing out one thing after another.
He LOVES to dance. we practiced for a few weeks before Kelsey's wedding so we would get really good and man, he rocked the dance floor.
He is starting to like movies and cartoons. We watch sesame street and a couple Disney channel shows. He can sit still for about 10 minutes at time, which is huge.
He is completely obsessed with trucks. He points them all out. Any loud noise outside is a "truck" and he basically just says that word all day.
He loves music. He whines until I turn the car radio up. It can't just any song on the radio, it has to be a good song with a beat to it. He pumps his arms up and down. Single Ladies by Beyonce is actually his favorite song right now. #goodmom
He loves the park, pool, and beach. He thrives being outside.
He loved his beach toys. He carry's his two shovels around a lot.
He loves to laugh and smile. He finds the simplest things funny.
He remembers what happens in some of his books before we get to the page. For example, in Pat the Bunny he will put his finger up to his mouth and say, "Shhhhh" when bunny is sleeping.
Sometimes he's a good eater and sometimes he's not. Sometimes I wonder how he got so big because he will go on hunger strikes and eat hardly anything. Other times, he won't stop eating. His favorite is mac and cheese and strawberries. He loves all fruit.
His hair has gone from dark brown to bleach blonde tips. The summer sun has treated him well.
He wears a size 5 diaper and is in 18-24 month clothes.
He sleeps about 11 hours a night and sleeps though the night. He is taking two naps a day but seems he may be transitioning to one soon.
He loves all animals. We have a book of animals and watch The Lion Kings and Finding Nemo constantly.
He is still very social but does experience stranger or anyone but mom anxiety at times.
Callen fell asleep playing with his truck.
Im getting a hug!
My blonde baby.
He could live in the dirt and bushes if I let him.
Drinking ocean water.
Trying to eat candy through the wrapper.
His dream come true, a ginormous "Truck".
diggin' where we live
We seriously love where we live. Our home may be small and full of stairs but hey, its ours. There are dirt hiking/running trails literally everywhere, the cutest little city center just up the road, lots of open rolling hills, parks and playgrounds on almost every corner and very friendly neighbors.
Pool.
Walks.
Our neighbor a few doors down came over one day with a bat and ball for Callen. So sweet.
At the fire pit roasting mallows.
We kick it on the driveway.
We play at the parks. Shirtless, when you run through the sprinklers and you're soaking wet.

swimming at grandmas
Grandma got an awesome pool for her house. It's a great size for lots of splashing and swimming with room left over for friends. Callen can not get enough water in his day. Bath time is his favorite, swimming in the pool is heaven, the beach is crazy, the hose is super fun, even the kitchen or bathroom sink. So this was perfect to feed his water obsession.

year six
Tristan and celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary! Wahoo!! Time sure has flown! Our cruise in April was our big anniversary celebration so we kept it chill. With it being just seven days from Kelsey's and Evan's wedding the whole family was in town so we went to breakfast at Ruby's in the pier.
I am thankful for my loving, patient, super cute, hardworking husband. We've been through a lot in the last year. Building a home and family together has been an amazing experience. He is my everything.

discovery park
A friend told me about the most awesome park right over the hill from us called Discovery Park. There is a small lake where you can feed the ducks, a dirt trail wrapping around the lake, hiking trails, a play ground, and a fountain for children to play in. Its your all-in-one. Even though I grew up just 15 minutes from here I feel like I have a whole new world to discover and we're loving it.
Feeding the ducks with Evan.
