Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving day was great as always. This year was very special because we took pies to the Marine Recruits on Camp Pendleton. My Dad is in the branch presidency so they held church on Thanksgiving Day instead of Sunday. We brought 12 pies and 30 of them downed 9 of them. Do the math... thats 3 guys to a pie. I told them to come back for a second piece and they all answered, "Yes ma'am. Thank you ma'am". It was fun to sit and talk with them about what they were doing and what was going on in the outside world.
Next we had our second annual Turkey Soccer Cup with the Tucker's and Perdue's. It was awesome! No major injuries but a few of us had some pretty good bruises.
The best part of Thanksgiving is having 2 Thanksgiving meals. Eat at Tristan's house then at my house.

Dinner at the Tuckers.

Lots of pretty pie.

My mom made a countdown chain for when Brady comes home. Cute huh? 36 links left!

We had a great time at home spending all our time with family. Yay for the holidays!!

Headbands

So, I have been inspired to take up headband making. This occurred after seeing super cute but over priced headbands and realizing i could totally make that! One thing let to another and i am now in love with headband making. Kristi and I got together a few days while i was home and together we created masterpieces. We went shopping for fabric, buttons and headbands and then put it all together. Here are a few of my finished products...

Dinner at Warmwaters

Tonight we took dinner to the beach with the Perdue family.
Mexican, yum. Munching on burritos.

We arrived right at sunset so it made for some beautiful photo opportunities.

Saturday

We arrived Friday night and Saturday was a full day of fun for the girls. We all went to Megan's bridal shower. Yay for getting married!

Then we went to Makenzie's soccer game. Go Kenzie! That night we went and saw New Moon! It was pretty good, right... and way too much fun to watch! Wink, wink. The Tucker girls, Kristi, and the Perdue girls all went together. The movie was even better with our awesome shirts.

Well, we're home! We arrived Friday after a quick 10 hours and only $50 in gas. We know how to travel. We're having tons of fun so far. Hope everyone is having a great Thanksgiving week!

I love my home...

New Moon

As we all know, New Moon comes out THIS Friday! There is no denying how attractive the actors are. My sisters and i decided that we need New Moon shirts for when we all go see it together on Saturday. So...today i went over to Nordstrom to check out their new line of Twilight Saga clothes, jewelry, and makeup. Crazy, i know. They had so many options so i went for the one that i could wear in public again.
Kelsey and I are both sporting Bella's truck.

For my youngest sister, Makenzie, i picked up this keeper. Go Team Jacob.

Outfits ready...its going to be awesome!

Salsa Recipe

Recently i have fallen in love with homemade salsa... it is sooo easy to make and so delicious so i wanted to share this recipe from Diane Montgomery (my young woman leader), its a keeper.
Ingredients:
  • 1 can stewed tomatoes (with salt)
  • 1-2 Serrano peppers
  • bundle of green onion
  • cilantro
In a blender/food processor pour in 1 can stewed tomatoes. Pulsate blender. Depending on how hot you want the salsa add 1/2-2 peppers. Make sure to clean out the seeds and the white inside part, throw away, and wash your hands. I add 1 and 1/2 and it has some good kick. Pulsate blender. Chop and add only the white part of the green onion. I added 4 onions but you can add less or more depending on taste. Pulsate blender. Add a closed fistful of cilantro (more or less depending on your taste). Pulsate blender. Add salt if you want but i have never had to.
Ta da... homemade salsa, better than Pace.

This just looking at this picture makes my mouth water.

Salsa Chicken

Lately, I've been inspired by 365 Days of Crock Pot and i have been wanting to use my Crock Pot more. Well...today i did, for Sunday dinner. We get out of church at 5:30, after the sun has set and its dark as we walk through the Disneyland size parking lot to our car, so having dinner ready when i get home is the best thing ever. Today i "made" salsa chicken. I threw in some frozen chicken tenderloins, soaked pinto beans, taco seasoning, salsa, chicken broth, brown sugar and salt. Cooked on low for 8 hours and ta da!

Put it in a tortilla and top with rice, cheese, sour cream and salsa. Delish and so easy.

Thank you Crock Pot. I have a feeling we will become much better friends.

If You're Happy

Today was an awesome day!
1. Slept in (just like every day).
2. Went for a run.
3. Tai Pan opened in OREM today! My favorite home decor store EVER! They sent me a coupon in the mail (such a scam) so i HAD to go! It was sweet! Added some Christmas decorations to my collection to say the least.
4. Worked on my tan at work (it was SUCH a beautiful November day) and ate some homemade salsa with my favorite coworker.
5. Got off work at 4 so i hung out with Tris and made dinner.
6. I saw my first Christmas commercial today. Its still 3 weeks out from Thanksgiving! (but that's OK).
7. Talked on the phone with Kelsey, my Mom and Kristi!
Hope you all had a great day too!
